WHY CHERISS?
At Cheriss we believe that holistic skincare must adapt to the rigours of modern life and are not shy to steer away from puristic botanical and plant based narratives.
Thoroughly rooted in ayurvedic philosophy, our formulations capitalise on this wealth of knowledge using modern scientific practices creating a range of efficient, easy to use and non-toxic products.
ALOE
Known as ‘kumari’ in Sanskrit which means a beautiful girl, soothes a variety of skin ailments. It has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal qualities, and increases blood flow to wounded areas. Aloe vera is absorbed up to four times faster than water and helps the pores of the skin open and receive the moisture and nutrients of the plant.
YLANG YLANG
‘The perfume tree’ Ylang-ylang's essential oil can control as well as balance the oil production in the skin and works as an effective cleanser. It rectifies the amount of oil produced by the sebaceous glands and keeps it in check by feeding the right amount of moisture. It is also known to reduce the level of cortisol present in the human body. Cortisol is also known as the ‘stress hormone’.
ALMOND OIL
Almond Oil is nutrient rich and has been widely used in ayurvedic and western medicine. It helps in regeneration of new cells, protecting the skin from free radicals, has anti ageing properties and is known to help heal scars. The oil is also rich in retinoids which unclog pores. The warming qualities of the oil make it perfect for massages and especially treating dry skin as the oil easily penetrates into the deeper tissue.
BEEWAX
Used a base for many ayurvedic and allopathic ointments, is a powerful antimicrobial and lends itself synergistically to other natural oils. As a potent natural emollient it penetrates the skin to nourish and soften it and does not go bad for a long time if kept out of direct heat. Thanks to its very low irritant and comedogenic effects, beeswax is widely used in modern skincare product
